I don’t know where manufacturers got the idea that gadgets and exercise buffs would go good together, so I’m genuinely surprised every time I see a new “sports trainer phone”, “diet tracking device” or other similar gadget. These things, of course, more often than not die faster than a flame inside a hurricane, of course that shouldn’t stop new concepts from coming out of the woods now, should it? Especially not one that uses back-to-back OLED multi-touch screens, a compact hydrogen battery and dual-core processors. The FIT cellphone concept uses existing technology in order to track a user’s performance. (Read the full post about ‘FIT cellphone concept to make cellphone users “fitter”’…)

As flash drives are an obvious-to-own accessory these days, the capacity of one’s drive is what determines the supremacy of the geek quotient in you. With the usual 1, 2 and 4 GB drives there aren’t too many achievements in the arena of storage devices. The 32 GB Flash drive is something that can help you stand out among those who have the customary low memory ones. It can accommodate a greater capacity of data and will act as a mini hard drive. This is another one of those obscenely unaffordable renditions of a car related model of a cellphone. It is likely to make its first public show at CeBIT this year. It works on a brilliant 520 MHz Qualcomm CPU and comes with Windows Mobile 6 Pro operating system. It also comes with support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The addition of basic GPS navigation makes the phone stand in the league of some pretty big names. It is good to see a luxury phone that has more than a satisfactory spec page. It is said that the interface of this one comes with this one is similar to the HTC Touch or the iphone. Just when I heaved a sign of relief – not having to review any more iPod docks and speaker systems over and over again – Boston Acoustics came up with this little surprise. This cool Duo ipod Boombox comes with a pair of 3.5 inch full range drivers and also has a couple of auxiliary points to connect two other PMPs to it. It’s also got a touch sensitive snooze bar and a wireless remote so that you can recline in bed and shuffle some things around. It’s been a while since I felt this good reviewing an iPod speaker. Other features include an alarm clock, a display that adjusts itself according to the ambience of the lighting and BassTrac low frequency processing. (Read the full post about ‘Duo iPod Boombox’…)

While most of us take the latest and greatest computer for granted, or at least the fact that we are easily able to purchase a computer. Not to mention we seem to be very worried about the next-generation movie players and have all gotten caught up in the recent format war (where Blu-ray came out victorious). But what if those options had not been available to us?
Being very into tech it’s easy to forget that some people may not be able to purchase such devices, not because of a financial reason but because their government did not allow it. While I will not dive to far into Communism here, it is with very good news that there are some signs of change in Cuba, even if it is just a little at a time.

The cats and kittens at the MIT Media Lab are always on some next-level type of wackiness, and the Siftables project doesn’t break from that trend. The concept seems simple enough: a collection of small, self-contained input / display devices wirelessly link together to form an independent mini-network, or a control system for a PC. The cubes feature OLED screens, a 3-axis accelerometer, Bluetooth, flash memory, and a haptic actuation driver, and feature additional ports for attaching other devices. The aim is to create a more natural system for handling and displaying data, though we won’t be surprised if this is somehow incorporated into an even more realistic version of Call of Duty. Something that most Asus fans would wish for is here at last. The M536 comes with a touch screen as well as a QWERTY keyboard. It runs on frequency bands of 900/1800/1900 for GPS carriers and 2100/1900/850 with 3.6 Mbps HSPDA.It works on Windows Mobile 6.1 platform and has 256 MB of flash memory. The screen is a typical Asus wonder, measuring 2.43 inches; it supports resolutions of up to 320×320. Now that’s a perfect square for a change. The M536 also comes with support for 802.11 Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity. It’s got a lot that one would seek in a business phone.
